United Council works on many grassroots advocacy campaigns to better the lives of students. Two standing statewide campaigns include the Wisconsin Biennial Budget and the Students Vote Campaign. A full list of campaigns can be found on the right side bar, here a few samples.
All children, including undocumented children, have access to public K-12 education.
Undocumented Wisconsin high school graduates recently lost access to in-state higher
education tuition rates during the last budget cycle. Not only does this mean that
undocumented students graduating from Wisconsin high schools will have to pay out-of-state
tuition rates to attend a Wisconsin university or technical college, but it also means that
undocumented students already enrolled in public institutions of higher education will have to
start paying non-resident rates. The options for undocumented students are extremely limited
and this is no time to price students out of education who possess potential and could
contribute to UW System and the state. Join the Campaign…
In the event of a sexual assault, the victim’s impact doesn’t just end at the scene. Unfortunately there are numerous physical and psychological repercussions. No one should have to encounter a confusing and biased process to seek justice at the university. Students have not been educated of what sexual assault is, how to prevent it, whom to report it to, or even what resources exist.
