Executive Director Nneka Akubeze
Nneka Akubeze was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Throughout her undergraduate career, she worked for improved campus climate and justice for students and underrepresented students. Immediately following her time as a student, she was hired as a Regional Field Organizer for United Council. In August of 2013 Nneka took on the Executive Directorship and is more committed to serving the students of Wisconsin than ever before!.
Development Director Jelena Gagula
Jelena Gagula is the former United Council Southwest Regional Field Organizer and now serves as the Development Director. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, where she was heavily involved with diversity organizations during her undergraduate years. As the Development Director, her goal is to optimize the organization’s work in the realms of alumni relations, development, events, and fundraising. She is constantly seeking to dialogue with students, alumni, coalition partners, and allies around the various aspects of developmental work within United Council.
External Relations Director Christopher R. Neal, J.D.
Chris is originally from South Los Angeles and Compton, CA. He has a BA in History from UCLA and a J.D. from UW-Madison Law School. Chris has worked with both UCSA and USSA in the past and has worked closely with UC and many of its alumni for years. He has served as a non-profit director, teacher and administrator in U.S. and international schools as well as worked in law firms and as a judicial intern. Chris is excited to work with and on behalf of the students and alumni of the UW System.
Finance Specialist CJ Terrell
CJ is a Madison native who attended UW-Milwaukee. His background lies in small nonprofit organizing. While he works on financial matters for UC, he also works closely with the homeless community, and continues to focus on community building and social justice organizing inside and outside of UC.
Social Justice Program Director Damon Terrell
Damon Terrell has attended the UW-Madison and has been working with United Council in various capacities since 2011.
The Social Justice Program Director is responsible for developing and augmenting the training needed to execute (student vision) with a high degree of integrity and efficacy. They work with staff and lead students to plan effective, engaging programming centered around the student experience(s) in the state of Wisconsin.
