Welcome from New Gender and Women's Issues Director

My name is Kelley Schacht and I am honored to be joining United Council as the new Gender and Women's Issues Director. I just graduated from Michigan State University after growing up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, a suburb north of Milwaukee. At MSU, I majored in Interdisciplinary Humanities specializing in English, Anthropology and Women's Studies, and I served as a leader of the feminist and reproductive rights student organizations. I'm very excited to start working with United Council and all UW students.

Welcome from New LGBTQ Issues Director

Dear UW Students,

My name is Chris Daniels and I am excited to be the new LGBTQ Issues Director for United Council. Orginally from just outside of Detroit, Michigan, I moved to Madison four years ago. I went to school at UW-Madison where I received a B.A. in Psychology with Women's Studies and LGBT Studies certificates. I was actively involved with many students organizations on campus focsing on queer issues, sex positivity and sexual health, and academic advising.

All across the country we are witnessing declining support for higher education institutions at both the state and federal levels.  United Council believes we can be nation leaders in reversing these devastating trends and return to our roots of a strong commitment to higher education.
